Here's one called Grandaddy, who are from the nowheresville town of Modesto, California. I used to live around this area, so I was quite excited to see these 'local boys done good'. I'm sure you've all remember the big buzz around them back in late '99.

I'll be terribly honest with you, I don't really know much about Bearsuit. I know that they're on microindie records (did they go bankrupted?), and I ended up buying "Cat Spectacular", their debut album. You can grab a few sample MP3s off their official website and I was keen on their "clappy" song. Someone please send me a list of "clappy" songs, I must have a huge collection of clap-along-songs by now. By the way, this song is misleading because the boy singer, he sings on 95% of the songs off the album. Also, the cool thing is, you can download their "how to make a bear hat" off their website. It looks fairly easy to do, maybe one day I will get some faux fur cloth and a sewing machine...

The Voxtrot show was alright, they seem to be having a lot of fun on stage. I was told that the last time they were here (on a Monday), that there was only maybe 12 people there. This time, they have a pretty packed venue, which made them really happy. The most memorable part is when the girls from Au Revoir Simone joined on stage (see picture) for their final song. They're still on tour, promoting their album, which was released 22 May 2007 (Morrissey's birthday!). Here's the rest of their tour dates:

My brother made me listen to the Faint.The only reason why I like them is that they sound so much like Information Society (and they are a band dear to my heart).There's that familiar keyboard/new wave sound that is all the rage these days.Anyway, I thought Agenda Suicide is the best song off their "Danse Macabre" album. In an age of sample-crazy, electronically altered music, one Minneapolis group is wiring new connections in the search for exciting sounds. The electronic duo Beatrix*Jar has adopted a do-it-yourself method for coaxing audio out of familiar and unfamiliar sources. The group is holding workshops to teach the method to musicians and non-musicians alike.

When I saw Beatrix*JAR walk past me, I was shock to find out that they were the opening band for Bat for Lashes. I've seen them before at the Bryant-Lake Bowl and I know they sound nothing like Bat, but more similiar to such DJ acts like Benthley Rhythm Ace [W♥M].
